Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DOES RIND DIFFER FROM DAIRY?

RIND is made using our own plant-based cream base, not mammalian milk. While many of the methods we use come from the French cheese-making tradition, we’ve spent years developing a process that pairs that heritage with a plant-based future.

IS THE RIND SAFE TO EAT?

Yes! And it's delicious.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

Cashew nuts, tofu, coconut oil, nutritional yeast, cultures, salt. Contains: Treenuts, soy, coconut.

Depending upon the flavor, there may be other ingredients which will be listed on the label such as paprika, lapsang tea, herbs de Provence, cranberries, currants.

WHAT'S THE RIND MADE FROM?

The rind grows naturally after the cheese is inoculated with either penicillium candidum, penicillium roqueforti, or both, depending on the variety.

IS RIND'S CHEESE REALLY VEGAN?

We take it as a compliment that you ask! Yes. Even our cultures are sourced from a non-dairy origin. RIND is vegan owned and operated since our founding in 2017.

ARE RIND CHEESE PRODUCTS KOSHER?

RIND's aged cheese and spreads are officially certified Kosher Pareve through North American Kosher.

HOW SHOULD I STORE RIND?

For the best results, keep our aged, French-style cheese refrigerated in cheese paper (don't seal it in plastic). If you plan on enjoying at a later date, you can freeze it to stop the rind from continuing to grow, and then when you're ready to eat, thaw it in the fridge or at room temperature. In safe refrigeration temperatures (between 32º and 40º F) it remains good for 60 days. Keep in mind that the rind may continue to grow, so don't worry if you see more camembert or bleu spots popping up on the exposed sides of the cheese, it's the sign of a happy rind. RIND cashew cheese spreads have a 8-week shelf life once thawed and keeps for 9 months when frozen. Carrot Cheese slices and shreds have a shelf life of 180 days from packing date.

I HAVE ALLERGIES. CAN I EAT RIND?

Please read the ingredients list carefully. Our cheeses contain allergens like tree-nuts and soy, though they are 100% vegan and gluten-free.
